Turn Negatives Into Positive Experiences

Posted in Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:32 pm by Judith

Life is what we make it: we can make it a pleasure and more tolerable or we can make it miserable by the way we respond to it.

I believe I have learned a lot about responding to life’s challenges in a more appropriate manner than I used to ten years ago, and because I have, I live a much happier life.

I assume that you want the same things I do, that you want peace, joy, and happiness to permeate our lives in a positive way when we interact with those whom we associate and have dealings.

This blog is a way for me to share with you the lessons I’ve learned about “What Matters Most In Life”. I want to do this so you won’t become overwhelmed when misfortune hits you and give up on things ever getting better for you.

We cannot give up because nothing will change that’s good if we do. We can’t go backwards or stay in status quo, nothing good is there for us either! All we can do is accept the challenge and move forward, trying to change our perspective and the way we respond to life and it’s challenges.

If we cave in to the negatives of life and focus on what we don’t have, we miss the blessings and the joy that life also provides but we’ve become too jaded to notice. Doing this will NOT make our lives any more tolerable, just more miserable.

Look at your life and then turn around the negatives you see into a positive. It may take a lot of effort to find the blessings at first but before long, you will see them easier and more frequently.

Let me give you a few examples of what I mean.

Story #1: We had just received a huge income tax refund, which is NOT a usual for us. We actually had almost $5,000 in our tax refund check. We had the check for a short time before we had an emergency.

Our toilet had overflowed. Even though the water was clear, it was still considered black water and was contaminated. I didn’t know that at the time and so I was soaking up the water with towels and washing them. However, washing them added to the flooding…which I had not realized either.

Finally, a friend suggested we call a particular plumber to come out and see what was wrong. He discovered we had a pipe on our side of the road that had broken and the whole front yard had to be plowed up. It cost us a total of $4,000 after our cost of all the cleanup and plumbing work was done. We had to have new carpeting throughout the whole house except the living room because of the black water.

My husband was several states away for his father’s funeral and taking care of his dad’s affairs. I had an illness that prevented me from bending over to clean up or to pack up the house. The insurance covered the cleanup and carpeting but we had a $500 deductible. They also allowed ServPro to clean up and pack up rooms in the house. I had to make the decisions by myself because my husband couldn’t focus from all he was dealing with on his father’s affairs.

At first I was very angry because most of our refund check had gone to this emergency, and so little was left for us to do what we wanted to do with it. It took me about another day to ask myself, “What would we have done if we didn’t have that money? What if the problem had happened a few months earlier or a few months later, when the money had already been spent?” That’s when I realized the blessing in having the check when we did, and so I no longer saw the situation as a negativity.

Story #2: We wanted to see more of our grandchildren because most of them lived so far away from us that we rarely were able to see them. I had prayed and asked God if that desire would ever be realized. He assured me that it would.

Not long after the prayer, my husband was told that he and the company he worked for as a contract manager was being replaced. It was a very hard time for him, and that, in turn, made life hard on me too.

My husband had put in applications everywhere in Oregon (where we lived), he had even put in applications in Utah, Texas, and Indiana. Nothing was happening, so we decided to move to Indiana and stay with our son and his family until we secured a job. With so many states surrounding there, we thought that would give him a better chance of finding a job.

We left Oregon on July 4th 2000 and arrived in Indiana July 6th, on a Saturday. Sunday we went to church with our son and family. On Monday, my husband picked up the local sales paper and saw a management job right there in town near where we were. Tuesday, he called on the job and Wednesday they called him back and did a phone interview. On Thursday, he was offered the job.

My husband losing his job put us in Indiana near our son and his precious family. This was the beginning of my prayer being answered. Three years later, my son living in Texas called to tell my husband that his company was going to be calling him for a job interview in Texas. As it turned out, he did get the job and we moved to Texas.

Living in Texas put us only two and half hours from our son and his family and only thirteen hours from our son in Indiana. That still put us twenty-two hours from our son and his family in Utah and thirty-four hours from our daughter and her family in Oregon if we drove.

From then on, most of our spare money goes to plane tickets to Utah and Oregon to see family we are too far away from to drive. We are able to see them a lot more frequently than we had before moving to Texas. Do you see the blessing? The lost job and moving to Indiana actually brought to pass our desire to see family more often.

Story #3: Before we moved to Texas, my husband moved there ahead of me to set up everything for us to move there. I was working at the time, so I had to finish up my job. A month later, he came home to help me tie up loose ends and then planned on taking one of the cars back with him so he would had a vehicle to drive.

On Sunday, the day before he was to leave and go back to Texas, we went to a church conference about twenty-five miles away from home. On the way home after church, the car died right there in our town and about five miles from home. All we had to do was call our son to come rescue us. It couldn’t have been any more convenient.

The next day we had our vehicle towed to a repair shop. We were told the engine was dead and that it would take $2,500 to fix it. We only had $5,000 from the company to make our move with, which included the moving van. There was no money to fix the car and still have enough to move with so we had to get the other vehicle ready for the drive and tow the broken car behind the moving van.

Where was the blessing in this story? Do you see it? If we had not driven to church and put on those extra miles, the vehicle would have broken down somewhere late at night in the boonies and my husband would have been stranded. He would be stuck and no money to fix it. Instantly, he recognized the blessing and was thankful for it.

These are just three of the many stories I can tell you of situations where a calamity turned into a blessing. It was not always recognized as a blessing at first, but we did finally recognized it and felt grateful. Instead of feeling like life treated us badly and was always taking things from us, we saw the blessing and as a result, negatives were turned into a positive.

You can see blessings as well when you look for them and accept them with gratitude. As my stories reveal, you can turn a bad situation into a positive one when you accept life on it’s own terms and look for God’s hand in the situation.

The same is true when you see a negative situation that makes you angry, especially when someone does something that angers you, and then you do what I call, “Turn the penny over to see what’s on the other side.” In other words, you look at a situation and assume that it may not be what appears to be.

Turning the penny over means you consider what another scenario might be that would make it a different outcome that you had not considered before. Perhaps someone had a different motive than you immediately thought of or there were situations that you are not aware of that changes the situation dramatically from what it first appeared to be. In other words, turn over the penny and see what the other side presents.

Sometimes you just have to accept that “It is what it is!” and let go of it. If you can’t do anything about it or it won’t help the situation to create a commotion about it, then leave it alone. It won’t change things or make things any better, except to appease ego and emotions. It does nothing that creates peace or peace of mind in the situation, or do what’s best for the situation when the desired outcome is peace or peace of mind.

I hope my comments have given you something to think about, and that what I’ve said will help you see your trials differently.

I know God makes it clear in the scriptures that He is not pleased with people who don’t recognize His hand in their lives and then give the “enemy to peace” credit for the misfortune they experience instead of seeing the blessing that comes from Him. That’s not smart, and it’s no way to earn the Lord’s trust in our ability to accept His blessings in the future.

Out of Darkness Into Light

Posted in Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , , , at 8:29 pm by Judith

Written by a friend of C.C.R.

“Out of the Darkness, into the Light”. These short seven words explain unmistakably the effects of healing the wounds of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) . While reading my daily inspirational “quotes”, I came across this one. We see and hear it often in religious sermons. For the many whose lives have been relentlessly challenged by life’s experiences and survived only by the grace of a higher power or some special intervention, we have an intimate understanding of going from darkness to light.

Sometimes we may reflect on how exactly we got to a “lighter” place:  lighter by the brilliance of radiance in our days, lighter in our spirits that carry a heavy burden, unseen, unfelt, and often times misunderstood, and lighter in our physical bodies that endured the trauma from our past.

The answer to how we got to the light may not be as important as the blessing, we are here. In reality, we don’t remain in this space of lightness every moment. Yet, when we experience these twinkles of happiness, we feel a profound sense of peace. A peace that lets us know we are not alone in our battles. A peace that validates we are loved and cared for during our conflicts. A peace that leaves us with the hope that when we are thrown back into the abyss, we CAN and WILL be able to climb back up to the light. Just trusting this inner knowing is what gets us through the dark days and nights. It is what enables us to wake each morning with new expectations for the day.  Without such trust it would be impossible to continue the journey, for the path is too unpredictable.

Healing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is built on the trust that through inner strength and outer resources we can not only survive and mend, we can thrive. Trauma can cause immense changes in our brains and bodies. It is not merely a matter of  ’sucking it up’  that will move us toward better physical and emotional health; it is taking action to get that help needed for healing. For most physical illnesses this is obvious.

If one has a life-threatening disease, he/she would get outside, professional help. She would endure the devastating effects of chemo and radiation to survive. He would go through open heart surgery to repair the damaged organ expecting months of rehabilitation and physical therapy. However, with emotional trauma, some in society still seem to attach a stigma.  The only weapon for dissolving the stigma is knowledge. And the only way knowledge blossoms is through openness, education, and courage.

You see it will take each of us to continue to share our insights with others. Truthfully, it is far easier to remain silent, hiding our wounds from the eyes of  [the] world. Yet, knowledge does not grow in such darkness. It requires light, nourishment, and valor. So it is up to each of us to contribute to the understanding of PTSD and how one can move “out of the darkness, into the light.”

Blessings and continue mending..

AARP Message To Most Americans

Posted in Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , at 10:07 pm by Judith

Pitfalls Of Payday Lending

I received this important message from AARP that is of interest to most Americans these days. These people are just legal loan sharks. Your chances of coming out on the positive end of such a loan is non-existent. That’s why they risk lending to you. You pay for the risk they take and for those who do not pay back the loan.

With the economy still sluggish and many folks still struggling, there’s one booming industry that’s been taking advantage of many Texans. Our Texas page of April’s AARP Bulletin took a closer look one man’s experience with predatory payday loans:

He had never walked into a payday loan shop, but Cleveland Lomas thought it was the right move: It would help him pay off his car and build up good credit in the process.

Instead, Lomas ended up paying $1,300 on a $500 loan as interest and fees mounted and he couldn’t keep up. He swore it was the first and only time he’d visit a payday lender.

“It’s a complete rip-off,” said Lomas, 34, of San Antonio. “They take advantage of people like me, who don’t really understand all that fine print about interest rates.”

Lomas stopped by the AARP Texas booth at a recent event that kicked off a statewide campaign called “500% Interest Is Wrong” urging cities and towns to pass resolutions calling for stricter regulation of payday lenders.

Read the rest of the story in the article, “Payday Loan Shops Exploit a Loophole”.

Know someone who’s been impacted by predatory payday or auto title lenders? Or have you had a personal experience with these incredibly high interest loans? Let us hear about it. Your story will make a difference. Let your voice be heard!

Easter Season

Posted in Spiritual Concepts tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:34 pm by Judith

Easter is the season to remember our Savior died for us that we might live again and to take upon himself all of our sins and imperfections.

Easter is also the season that represents new birth and spring. . . with eggs, chicks, bunnies, and chocolate.

An Easter Message

Posted in Life Issues, Spiritual Concepts tagged , , , , , at 2:03 am by Judith

I hope this message is as special to you as it is to me. With the atmosphere around us these days, it helps to know someone has paid the ultimate price for your redemption. Knowing we can rely on Him and His love helps us through the hard times we face in life. But try to remember that we live on a volatile planet. We will have storms rage about us, mudslides, fires, and all sorts of chaos around us.

The Lord gave us a lovely planet to live on, but we have to accept the good with the bad. Tornadoes and fires are a fact of life and it’s not God’s fault if you suffer from them. He is there to comfort you, so take advantage of that gift, but don’t blame Him for your misfortune of living on this earth. See the gift of life (however long that is) as a blessing and enjoy the time you have with your loved-ones and give thanks for each day that you wake up. That is the way I see this life on earth and I hope you feel the same.

I welcome your comments on this subject.

Children and Cell Phone Use

Posted in Health, Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , , , , at 3:24 am by Judith

I just watched three videos on children’s use of cell phones. Then I noticed that there were 52 related videos on this subject…too many for me to put on my video pod. I put a link below for you to click on and watch a good report on the subject and then you should see the other related videos. I hope you will take the time to watch several of them because this is becoming another health issue that affects families today. After watching the videos, I would appreciate some feedback on your experieces and how you deal with this problem yourself. In this way, you may be able to help others who are having the same problem.

Judy’s Wounded Bird Flying Home

Posted in Health, Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 5:11 pm by Judith

This precious person has lived with me for about ten months. When she first came to live with me, she had a hard time trusting, she was unsure about her future and what to do next, and she was very broken-hearted and sad. I knew she would find the peace and quiet she needed here with me. I had a serene and quiet back yard for recovering.

Life can be very difficult and make us lose hope. This woman survived cancer but still her loved ones treated her poorly. She had to leave that life and show them she was stronger than enduring their abuse and that there is another way to live. It is good that she is able to return home now as a much stronger person, a person who will no longer accept life the way it used to be. She is an example for everyone who suffers from abuse and loss of hope.

Dale’s Death Was A Shock

Posted in Life Issues tagged , , , , , at 6:57 am by Judith

dale1

Dale’s Story Could Be Yours As Well!

I want you to pay more attention to your own and and your family’s health.

I want you to NEVER have this situation happen to you.

And I NEVER want another young wife and the children to have this happen to them, life is way too important!

Last month my brother-in-law, Dale,  suddenly fell over dead at age 55. What a shock it was to our family.

Dale reminds me of my friend Art, I mean Art reminds me of Dale, because they both had started over with a new wife and a young family.

Because his wife needed some free time, Dale took the two kids with him to the mountains, where they often stayed for the weekend. The three brothers have a house that they inherited from their dad when he died in 2007. The sad thing is, because the purpose of the trip was to give his wife a break, she was not there when he died. . . what a hard thing for her to swallow!

Dale had been outside chopping wood and doing other things he always did when he went up to the house, but nothing that he wasn’t used to doing, when he started complaining that he was feeling ill. So he went into the house and laid down for a rest.

When Dale woke up from the nap, he still felt crummy but got up anyway. He sat down on the sofa and visited with his brother for awhile. Suddenly, he grabbed his chest and fell forward. The medics said he was dead before he hit the floor. It was a miracle that this didn’t happen when he was driving home with the kids in the car.

It was a complete shock to all of us; that is, until we found out he had been complaining of chest pains since Christmas. He thought it was just a pain in his shoulder and did not think it had anything to do with his heart.

Also, he had been complaining at times that he had indigestion as well as frequently saying his angina was acting up. We also learned that he was at the hospital the weekend before with his married daughter and her daughter, and that he had been complaining of chest pain then but never said a word to the doctor.

I tell you all this for a reason! I want you to recognize right now that,  if you don’t learn anything else, you need to pay attention to any heart issues and warning signs your body gives you.

We need to know when to go to the doctor and when we don’t need to.  Dale never saw the doctor about his warning signs, at least as far as we can tell, because he did not recognize the pain for what they were. He was a tough man and just thought the pain was due to getting older. He didn’t see it as a warning.

So please, all of you strong men out there in the Internet world, especially those who just bear the pain and think you don’t need to go to the doctor, please take a look at the message in this posting.

Do NOT be so tough that you don’t go see a doctor when you get warning signals that something might be wrong with you. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it’s in your family’s best interest to check on it!

Because Dale ignored the warnings, he now has a 36 year old widow and a 5 year old son, one that Dale always wanted and enjoyed very much, who will not be doing things with dad any more (such things as Dale had always wanted to do). He also left behind their 5 year old adopted daughter who has shaken baby syndrome. She adored her dad and needs a father very much.

And to top it all, Dale never purchased life insurance; not even mortgage insurance or insurance that pays off loans if a spouse dies. He had all the toys, bells, and whistles he wanted, yet he had no insurance to care for his family after he passed.  He died because he ignored his own health and the warning his body gave him.

Please appreciate the importance of this message and take it personally to heart.

The Truth About Autism

Posted in Health, Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , at 10:40 pm by Judith

NEW: Video Report About Autism You May Not Know

I tried to post the video but it did not work. Therefore, you will need to go to the site itself.  Put on your popup  blocker before you click on these links.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/12/11/the-toxic-origins-of-autism.aspx

Also see Dr. Blaylock’s report as well.  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/pages/the-danger-of-excessive-vaccination-during-brain-development.aspx

Please follow this link above and watch an informative video interview about autism, and what appears to cause it. Yes, I know we already know that vaccinations have been linked to thecause, but there is evidence that much more is in the fabric of autism that you may not know.

I was very surprised when I saw this report. I have two autistic grandchildren through my daughter. She has been blaming herself all this time because her doctor told her she caused the children’s autism. I told her that could not be true, there are far too many autistic children today for that to be the case.

Oprah did a whole program on autism earlier last year. She said that 1 out of every 150 children become autistic. She also said that is epidemic stage, higher than breast cancer.  I knew something had to be causing autism that related to our modern-day lifestyle, something that wasn’t part of our culture or done on a regular basis fifty years ago. I also knew it must be related to vaccinations that children get around 18 months to 2 years old. It is just too coincidental for it not to be related.

I received an email about a year ago from NewsMax.com, stating they knew in 2005 that vaccinations caused autism. Strange  that nobody said a word to parents; parent who were and are still forced to get their children vaccinated or schools will not admit their children. Of course,  the “Child Protective Agency” gets involved at that point.

Parents need to know that things like this can harm their children. There should be financial responsibility for the children’s care who have been forced to live the rest of their lives with this ailment. In case you do not know about this condition, let me give you an idea of how a child with autism lives.

Not all children respond to the same triggers. However, as in the case of my grandson, autistic children need to have the same daily routine. If something is different, they get very revved up and afraid. For example, when my grandson came to visit us, obviously his routine changed. The poor kid (age 10 at the time) was afraid all the time. I cannot imagine being afraid so many times a day, every single day. That must be horrible.

Anything can freak-out these children and send them into an uncontrollable panic attack. This was the case with my grandson when he saw a tee-shirt someone had on or clouds that look a little ominous to him. They may hear something on television or radio or see something they don’t understand, and then go into a autistic melt-down. Siblings or school mates may say something to set off a child’s melt-down as well.

We, as parents and grandparents, need to put pressure on Congress. They need to force the Food and Drug Administration to have tighter regulations when they use chemicals like those mentioned in the video. I can’t believe the FDA thought mercury was safe to use for children’s vaccinations. Would you please write a letter to your state representatives and tell him/her how you feel?

Thank you.

The Anti-Christian Movement

Posted in Life Issues, Spiritual Concepts tagged , , , , , , , , , at 1:22 am by Judith

2chs41c1

I have had this subject on my mind for some time, especially after Bill O’Reilly wrote an article on it: Jesus vs. the Atheists.

One example of the anit-Christian movement is when my brother received a rejection from Yahoo Personals for his profile. The email said he had a word that was objectionable (we think the word may be God) and that a picture was rejected (they said the picture was a beautiful picture of Christ in the garden). It is unbelievable, a profile is objectionable because of the word God and a picture of Christ?

The only way evil can prosper is to remove God from society. The work of darkness and evil cannot live in the light.  Of course, we know that those who follow God believe they are in the light and that they have the promise of Him being with them. If that is the case, the only way those who live in darkness can prevail is to destroy the light by enticing people away from it. Unfortunately, that is what is happening now; with a lot of help from Hollywood, government controlled Public School system, and influences of peer pressure.

We can fight Hollywood’s influence by monitoring the movies and television programs we allow our family members and ourselves to view. However, we have little or no control or influence on the public school system and peers. All we can do is teach our children the best we can, be good examples for them to follow, then hope and pray that they will overcome the environment they are forced to submit to when they are away from us.

The problem is that those who complain about these environmental issues are treated like they are fanatics. Sadly, that label makes many parents back down when their children tell them how they feel or how they are being ridiculed at school.  Children are embarrassed by their parents religious stance and the teasing they receive at school because of it.

For years, I have been saying that children need to be taken out of the public school system and put into Christian schools. Our church does not have home schooling or church schools until college age, and they expect the parents to take care of the problem by working with each other. However, independently, a small group of parents have little effect on the problem.

Christian schools are sometimes a problem when they are vocal about others who do not follow the same belief system as they do. Because they will not accept individuals with different beliefs because they are the only ones who are right, their attitude makes it impossible to put children in that type of school.

For example, a young father put his child in a Christian preschool. When he saw a magazine sitting on the table in the waiting room that was anti-Mormon, many Christians do not see Mormons as Christian, he brought up the article with administration but received no satisfaction.

Christains are losing ground almost daily. Their rights and beliefs are not respected, sometimes it’s because of their pious attitude and unwillingness to accept other Christains as brothers and sister in Christ. How sad this is, being so unloving and unaccepting of others who also love the Lord.

On the other hand, those on the opposite side unite together for a common goal. Because they have, they are getting recognition and assistance from many sources. Should not Christains do the same? There is strength in numbers.

Please view the video below and then comment on your feelings. Part of this video is a bit radical, but please watch it to the end and glean from it the main message. We need to do something more to stop the amount of control the public school system has on our children’s spirituality and moral fiber.

Tell us what you are doing to battle this problem in your home. Your story can help us. Children are being eaten up by the world and the public school system, so please help us solve this problem. Perhaps you will do as the video suggests and join their organization.

Fight FOCA

Fight FOCA
POSTED Dec 9, 2008  under the old BLF Consulting that was accidently deleted

I want to let you know about a terrible piece of legislation called “The Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA). FOCA would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech). It would prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.

FOCA Would Wipe Away Every Restriction on Abortion Nationwide. This would eradicate state and federal laws that the majority of Americans support, such as:

* Bans on Partial Birth Abortion
* Requirements that women be given information about the risks of getting an abortion
* Only licensed physicians can perform abortions
* Parents must be informed and give consent to their minor daughter’s abortion

FOCA would erase these laws. Obama Promises to sign this bill as soon as he takes office.

Please read the expert analysis by Americans United for Life (AUL) and sign the Fight FOCA petition by clicking on this link.

Enjoy Life

Try to Relax and Enjoy The Life That You’ve Been Given

Perhaps what we should slow down so that we have time to enjoy the lives we have; however it comes to us. Being too busy to enjoy life is becoming a bigger problem in our bustling society today.

The faster we go after the things in life that we think we need and want, the more details we are likely to miss and the more mistakes we are likely to make. So we need to just slow down before we do something that cannot be undone.

When doing things in haste, we often miss the steps we need to make in order for us to function best. It’s much like creating strong mortar that keeps the building blocks of our lives in place. We cannot afford to take the risk of creating weak mortar in our life’s building blocks and then see everything that has value come crashing down around us.

We need to take time to smell the roses, to notice the shapes of clouds in the sky, to notice the colors of flowers along the freeway, and to pay attention to the activities of our children. We need to notice how quickly they grow up. How long has it been that you last noticed their personalities? Have you noticed that they are starting to develop an interesting personality or it has been developed for quite some time but you haven’t even noticed?

Take the time to notice all the good things our spouses do for us. Try to remember what we love about them, and how glad we are that we married them. Then the spouses should tell each other how they feel.

We need to stop thinking about all the things we have to do today or  tomorrow and just enjoy doing things in the moment. We really need to live our lives more in the moment and just enjoy the blessing of living today!

Of course there are things we need to take seriously, and that we need to keep on top of , but we also need time to relax and play. All work and no play will put a man or woman in the sickbed, in the hospital bed, or worse, in the grave. In other words, we probably need to tap into our playful side more often than we do, like I am doing right now by writing this blog.

If we have trouble letting down our hair and relaxing as we should, we neeed find someone with whom we can share an activity. Who do we know that can help us be more playful and exercise that  light-hearted side of our nature? We need to go out and have fun with a friend, rather than doing things alone. Going solo isn’t much fun and eventually grows tiresome and lonely. We cannot let this happen to us. If it already has, then perhaps we need to change something and do things differently.

It is my desire that you find a way to spark up your life through activities that you enjoy. Try to play more when you need to, and to relax when you notice you are getting too intense.

BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION

Posted in Life Issues tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 6:38 am by Judith

thumbs-up-smiley When we learn the lessons we are supposed to learn (that is to respond  appropriately) and become more peaceful in the soul, when we teach what we learn to those in our own circles of influence (to experience peace themselves), we will make a marked difference in the world around us. Moreover, when we trust our spirits (the warm feelings within) to lead us on the correct pathways of life, when we rely on the power source in the universe to direct us, we become part of the solution in building a happier family unit and a healthier society. Now re-read the bolded words.

Learning to think first and respond appropriately to problems will teach this skill to others. They learn it by our examples as they interact with us and see how we handle difficult situations. Remember that kindness begets kindness, love begets love, peace begets peace, chaos begets chaos, anger begets anger, hate begets hate, and paranoia begets paranoia. The same thing is true when we are good examples, people reflect back what they see in us. This is
why we need to understand the reasoning behind responding appropriately to situations, and why this is essential for our future peace.

Not everyone understands the concept of teaching by example, however, and so some might be tempted to teach strictly by their intellect and knowledge. They believe they are wise because they have experienced difficulties in the past and think this qualifies them to teach others what they know. Yet we know that actions speak louder than words. Often, we see these people puffed up in their pride and ego, so what they teach comes from self/ego, instead of tapping into the resources of the spirit. Hence, teaching by example is best and when it’s done through the spirit. In this way, we become an army that can reach far more people than would be otherwise by the few who teach one person at a time. In other words, if we can show just one, then we can teach the whole village.

If you decide to teach by words and intellect, then it must be done with insight, humility, honesty, integrit conviction, and honed understanding. This is best done by tapping into the resources of the spirit to avoid teaching out of self-righteousness, arrogance, or judgment. Of course, this is also very difficult to do because pride and arrogance usually get in the way. This is why few are called by God to teach these things, and why He reserves that role for those who are humble and teachable themselves. That is also why it is best to teach by the guidelines I have just described?  We can all teach by example, and the best part is that it is duplicatable by those we meet.

When handicapped with self/ego, some people who feel qualified to teach believe it is necessary to “fix” people (or change them) in order to educate them. Sadly, we often take this bait and try to fix ourselves according to the instructions of those who are supposed to know—but sometimes experts are far from being true examples of what they teach. Then we end up losing faith in the supposed experts, and forget their teachings when they are caught in hypocrisy, arrogance, and judgment. This is why we must fix ourselves before we ever think of fixing anyone else.

We fix ourselves when we are teachable and allow our spirits to be taught the ways of God and the universe. If we teach, let it be by the model of compassion and an attitude of service. These are the qualities that others can easily duplicate by example!

Do you see the power we all have to change not only our own lives and that of our children’s, but to also change our world in the future? This is an awesome responsibility. Being part of the solution and not part of the problem is truly an opportunity to make a brighter future for all of humanity. This great responsibility is also a blessing for us today, as well as for our posterity tomorrow.

This scenario does not have to be only in fantasy. If we do our part by staying in integrity and showing others how to do likewise through our example, we can cause effectual changes to occur in society. With love and conviction, and by adhering to correct principles, we automatically become beacons for others to follow. In this way, we show them how to become more of what they want to be as we become more of what we want to be. We show them how to have more of what makes them happy when we are happy. We show them how to have more out of their lives than  they expected! There’s not much that’s more satisfying than this!  IS THERE?

Get A Good Education

Posted in Education, Life Issues tagged , , at 5:51 am by Judith

A good education opens the door to opportunities and provides a well-rounded approach to life. The knowledge that we gain benefits us in more ways than can be determined by a piece of paper, and it also has the ability to free us from the bondage of our limitations. The more we learn, the more we expand our horizons and the more we benefit.

Getting an education does not only mean getting a formal education. It could mean completing courses
through a home study program by mail or learning new skills through a trade school. It could mean increasing
our current skills by taking online courses at home through the Internet, or by taking general courses at a
university. You might also consider a specialized program through one of several private colleges, business colleges, junior colleges, and community colleges. Communities often offer programs as well.

A wise person recognizes that upgrading their skills needs to be an ongoing process throughout life. A wise
person also recognizes that to be more appealing in an ever-changing job market, a good education, upgrading an education, or upgrading skills is necessary and creates more opportunities. Also, improving an education makes a person eligible for more jobs or for a position opening up at a present place of employment.
