Yahoo Announces Worm Alert

As Facebook works to make itself more relevant and timely for its growing member base with a profile page makeover, attackers seem to be working overtime to steal the identities of the friends, fans and brands that connect though the social-networking site.

Indeed, Facebook has seen five different security threats in the past week. According to Trend Micro, four new hoax applications are attempting to trick members into divulging their usernames and passwords. And a new variant of the Koobface worm is running wild on the site, installing malware on the computers of victims who click on a link to a fake YouTube video.

The Koobface worm is dangerous. It can be dropped by other malware and downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web sites, Trend Micro reports. When attackers execute the malware, it searches for cookies created by online social networks. The latest variant is targeting Facebook, but earlier variants have also plagued MySpace.

Koobface’s Wicked Agenda

Once Koobface finds the social-networking cookies, it makes a DNS query to check IP addresses that correspond to remote domains. Trend Micro explains that those servers can send and receive information about the affected machine. Once connected, the malicious user can remotely perform commands on the victim’s machine.

“Once cookies related to the monitored social-networking Web sites are located, it connects to these Web sites using the user log-in session stored in the cookies. It then navigates through pages to search for the user’s friends. If a friend has been located, it sends an HTTP POST request to the server,” Trend Micro reports.

Ultimately, the worm’s agenda is to transform the victim’s computer into a zombie and form botnets for malicious purposes. Koobface attempts to do this by composing a message and sending it to the user’s friends. The message contains a link to a Web site where a copy of the worm can be downloaded by unsuspecting friends. And the cycle repeats itself.

An Attractive Face(book)

Malware authors are investing more energy in Facebook and other social-networking sites because that effort pays off, according to Michael Argast, a security analyst at Sophos. Facebook alone has more than 175 million users, which makes it an attractive target.

“Many computer users have been conditioned not to open an attachment from an e-mail or click a link found within, but won’t think twice about checking out a hot new video linked to by a trusted friend on Facebook,” Argast said.

Argast called the Koobface worm a mix of something old and something new. The new is using social networks as a method to spread malware. The old is using fake codec Trojans linked to a saucy video to induce the user to install the malware.

Argast said people can protect themselves by running up-to-date antivirus software, restricting which Facebook applications they install, thinking twice before clicking on links from friends and never, never installing a codec from some random Web site in the hopes of catching some celebrity in a compromised situation.

“I would expect to see more attacks on Facebook,” Argast said. “As long as this is a successful propagation method, the bad guys will double down and invest more. They are entirely motivated by financial gain. If it pays, they’ll continue to romp in your social playgrounds.”

Let’s Talk Mona Vie

Posted in Health tagged , , , , , at 7:39 am by Editor

Let me say right from the top that I am NOT a representative of  MonaVie products, and that I have no connection to the distribution of it. I say this because MonaVie restricts representatives from mentioning its name on the Internet or in emails in any form. Therefore, because I am not bound by their rules, I am totally free to say what I want about this product.

I must also add that I have not yet sampled this product or seen a business presentation. I report on this subject for one reason and one reason only; because it is news, BIG NEWS! I would be remiss to ignore this fact and to not report on this new health fad.

Because the information relating to MonaVie is in video form and public knowledge that comes from the news media, I am not concerned about any restrictions on the use of MonaVie’s name or the Corporation’s. In addition, with good reports coming in from users of this product, I have good reason to examine the health benefits of this product more closely.

I am a Network Marketing Business Coach. What that means to you is that, if you are interested in becoming a sales representative or you  just want to try the product, you may contact me and I will pass on your information to some of my clients I coach. I will make sure someone contacts you as soon as possible.

Here is what I know about MonaVie. The Acai berry is the main ingredient, and has become the new fountain of health in the eyes of some people. They feel that way because of the benefits it provides. Now I do not know that I would go so far as to say it has become the fountain of health, but I might think about it being a possibility after I learn more about it. This is why I am doing this report. I am intrigued by this product, because of it’s antioxidant properties.

Antioxidants are important to us because of our exposure to harmful additives in food and the air we breathe.  Our biggest concern is the use of MSG and growth hormones. It’s disappointing that the FDA does not protect us better from these health risks. Many of us have become very vocal about this situation as well. These health risks give us a good reason to appreciate that antioxidants are absolutely necessary today.

One part of me says, “We cannot blame the FDA for our own lack of personal responsibility in making wise food choices and forming healthy lifestyle habits.” And then the other part of me says, “Who else can we blame? It’s the FDA’s job is protect the consumer from harmful substances.” So now I am left with the duty of being responsible for my own health; which is really where the responsibility should be in the first place.”

Personally, I have gotten out of the habit of taking good vitamin supplements to fortify my body and immune system. I used to be very good at taking them regularly, but then I stopped for some unknown reason. These videos have brought me back to my past commitment to be more responsible in my health.

The truth is, I’ve been using Amway supplements since 1977 because I know the quality and care they take in growing, harvesting, and manufacturing these supplements. However, since I am already committed to using these products, I am torn about using MonaVie. Keeping this in mind, let me suggest that you try MonaVie if you feel you shouls. You might want to watch the video first that NBC News did where they tried the product for you first.

I give you my full support in getting this product and information to you, if you would like it. I have lots of material in my possession if you would like me to email it to you. A Mona Vie representative cannot email it but I can. I have NOTHING to gain by this support so let me be your go-between. I do, however, have something to lose by this support. MonaVie is my competitor. Nevertheless, I am intent on learning more about this product for my readers and on helping you make an informed choice.  I have already done extensive research as it is because I need to know what causes such a stir in people around me. Besides, I am a curious soul and need to know everything about everything.

Remember my comment earlier that Amway cares about the quality of their products, and about how plant material is planted, harvested, and manufactured? It appears that MonaVie has the same type of care and concern. In other words, if the material is harvested too early or too late, or if it is handled incorrectly, the quality of the finished product will be compromised. In the case of most fruit growth, it is crucial that it has enough time to ripen all the way. Most of the nourishment is in the ripening stage. Some fruits, such as raspberries and blueberries with the higher amount of antioxidants, need a longer growth cycle.

I learned that, according to the 2004 Journal of Food Composition and Analysis and the 2004 Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, the highest level of antioxidant is based on a O.R.A.C. Score (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity). With new attention placed on the Acai Berry, we learn that it has the highest antioxidant score, with an O.R.A.C. score of 1,027 in freeze dried condition. Fresh Acai Berry has a O.R.A.C. Score of 185.

I see now that I did not explain the purpose of antioxidants earlier, I apologize; let me explain it now. The purpose of an antioxidant is to get rid of free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals enter the body through the environment. This includes the air quality contaminates such as hair sprays, shampoos, car emissions, and so forth. Other contaminates the body absorbs are from the chemicals and preservatives in our food. (*There are other contaminates introduced into the body as well through other forms not covered in this article.)

The O.R.A.C. Scores of the various fresh or raw fruits are listed below:

According to the Brunswick Laboratories the  O.R.A.C. Score is different in dried fruit and vegetables:

      Acai Berry (Fresh)

    185
Cranberry       95
Artichoke       94

Dale’s Death Was A Shock

Dale’s Story Could Be Yours As Well!

I want you to pay more attention to your own and and your family’s health.

I want you to NEVER have this situation happen to you.

And I NEVER want another young wife and the children to have this happen to them, life is way too important!

Last month my brother-in-law, Dale,  suddenly fell over dead at age 55. What a shock it was to our family.

Dale reminds me of my friend Art, I mean Art reminds me of Dale, because they both had started over with a new wife and a young family.

Because his wife needed some free time, Dale took the two kids with him to the mountains, where they often stayed for the weekend. The three brothers have a house that they inherited from their dad when he died in 2007. The sad thing is, because the purpose of the trip was to give his wife a break, she was not there when he died. . . what a hard thing for her to swallow!

Dale had been outside chopping wood and doing other things he always did when he went up to the house, but nothing that he wasn’t used to doing, when he started complaining that he was feeling ill. So he went into the house and laid down for a rest.

When Dale woke up from the nap, he still felt crummy but got up anyway. He sat down on the sofa and visited with his brother for awhile. Suddenly, he grabbed his chest and fell forward. The medics said he was dead before he hit the floor. It was a miracle that this didn’t happen when he was driving home with the kids in the car.

It was a complete shock to all of us; that is, until we found out he had been complaining of chest pains since Christmas. He thought it was just a pain in his shoulder and did not think it had anything to do with his heart.

Also, he had been complaining at times that he had indigestion as well as frequently saying his angina was acting up. We also learned that he was at the hospital the weekend before with his married daughter and her daughter, and that he had been complaining of chest pain then but never said a word to the doctor.

I tell you all this for a reason! I want you to recognize right now that,  if you don’t learn anything else, you need to pay attention to any heart issues and warning signs your body gives you.

We need to know when to go to the doctor and when we don’t need to.  Dale never saw the doctor about his warning signs, at least as far as we can tell, because he did not recognize the pain for what they were. He was a tough man and just thought the pain was due to getting older. He didn’t see it as a warning.

So please, all of you strong men out there in the Internet world, especially those who just bear the pain and think you don’t need to go to the doctor, please take a look at the message in this posting.

Do NOT be so tough that you don’t go see a doctor when you get warning signals that something might be wrong with you. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it’s in your family’s best interest to check on it!

Because Dale ignored the warnings, he now has a 36 year old widow and a 5 year old son, one that Dale always wanted and enjoyed very much, who will not be doing things with dad any more (such things as Dale had always wanted to do). He also left behind their 5 year old adopted daughter who has shaken baby syndrome. She adored her dad and needs a father very much.

And to top it all, Dale never purchased life insurance; not even mortgage insurance or insurance that pays off loans if a spouse dies. He had all the toys, bells, and whistles he wanted, yet he had no insurance to care for his family after he passed.  He died because he ignored his own health and the warning his body gave him.

Please appreciate the importance of this message and take it personally to heart.
